Cartica Management, LLC ("Cartica") is a concentrated, long-only Emerging Markets investment manager with $2.5 billion in assets under management focused on relational activist investing in small and mid-cap companies. Our very specialized "EM activist" strategy seeks to enhance publicly traded company valuations by persuading them to adopt new policies (including dividend policies, levered recaps, disposal of non-core assets, eliminating structures that prevent efficient allocation of capital) which will be rewarded by the market. Based on the team's more than 80 years of combined investment experience, the portfolio is constructed through Top-Down selection of Emerging Market Countries and Bottoms-Up deep fundamental driven company selection. The portfolio is highly concentrated with approximately 15-20 holdings, low volatility (Adjusted Beta of 0.70) and high Active Share (99.5%). We have outperformed the MSCI EM benchmark over the last 5 years and since inception. Cartica is employee and majority women-owned and was founded in 2008 by a team of former senior executives of the World Bank's International Finance Corporation.
