Human Rights Campaign

The Human Rights Campaign is America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. By inspiring and engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end discrimination against LGBT citizens and realize a nation that achieves fundamental fairness and equality for all.

HRC represents a force of more than 1.5 million members and supporters nationwide - all committed to making HRC's vision a reality. From working to bring marriage equality to 9 states and the District of Columbia, to ensuring that gay and lesbian Americans are free to serve their country openly, HRC stands up for commonsense policies rooted in basic American values.

Its 501(c)(3) arm, the HRC Foundation, operates on the idea that LGBT people's quality of life shouldn't be dependent on the outcome of a given election. For more than a decade, the Foundation has led projects like the Corporate Equality Index-an annual benchmarking of major American companies based on their LGBT-inclusive corporate policies and practices. The CEI created a race to the top, and today, providing all employees equal footing in the workplace is a best practice. The CEI, and the Foundation's other educational initiatives in the healthcare sector, religious organizations, and in communities across the country, have helped drive a truly national conversation about equality.

Founded in 1980, HRC advocates on all levels of government, fosters fair-minded policies and practices in the workplace, faith communities, and healthcare facilities, mobilizes grassroots efforts across the country, invests strategically to elect fair-minded individuals to office and educates the public about LGBT issues.
