Pine River Capital Management is a global asset management firm focusing on relative value strategies across a full range of financial markets. The firm was founded in early 2002 by Brian Taylor. Prior to Pine River's inception, Brian began his employment at EBF & Associates in 1988 as a trader, becoming head of the convertible arbitrage group in 1994, and was named a Partner in 1997 prior to his departure in 2002. He founded Pine River to pursue opportunities in global relative value trading and three former colleagues; Jeff Stolt (CFO), Aaron Yeary (Co-Portfolio Manager of the Pine River Fund) and Nikhil Mankodi (Co-Head of Asian Trading) joined him shortly after the launch. Tom Siering, another former colleague, joined the firm in 2006 as Head of Fundamental Strategies. Franklin Parlamis joined Pine River in 2007 as the Head of US Convertibles Trading and Steve Kuhn joined in 2008 as the Head of Fixed Income Trading. As the firm grew, teams were built around each of the strategy heads along with significant investments in infrastructure. Pine River has grown to be a highly respected manager, attracting top talent and making significant investment in research capabilities, operational infrastructure and risk controls. With $13.9 billion under management and 423 employees globally, the firm provides investment solutions to qualified clients across three actively managed platforms: hedge funds, separate accounts and listed investment vehicles. Pine River is headquartered in Minnetonka, Minnesota, with offices in New York, London, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, San Francisco, and Austin.
