David Tepper
Founder & President, Appaloosa Management LP
David Tepper is the Founder and President of Appaloosa Management L.P., the $20 billion hedge fund he founded in 1993.
David's charitable interests have focused on education and meeting people's basic needs. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Mellon University and the Board of Advisors of Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business. His contributions to Carnegie Mellon over the past decade have helped reinvigorate the University's campus and include the recently announced David A. Tepper Quadrangle.
Additionally, David and his charitable entities have been generous benefactors of the University of Pittsburgh, Rutgers University, Phoenix House, United Jewish Appeal, Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and many other food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters in New Jersey and the Pittsburgh region.
David is the founder of Better Education Institute, a non-profit organization devoted to reforming public school education in New Jersey. He also serves on the Board of the Robin Hood Foundation.
