Jeff Smith
Managing Member, Chief Executive Officer & Chief Investment Officer, Starboard Value, L.P.
Jeff Smith is a Managing Member and the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Starboard Value. Prior to founding Starboard Value, Jeff Smith was a Partner and Managing Director at Ramius LLC and the co-founder and Chief Investment Officer of the funds that comprised the small cap value and opportunity investment platform. Prior to joining Ramius in January 1998, Mr. Smith served as Vice President of Strategic Development for The Fresh Juice Company, Inc. While at Fresh Juice, Mr. Smith helped orchestrate three acquisitions and initiated and completed the sale of Fresh Juice to The Saratoga Beverage Group, Inc. Mr. Smith began his career in the Mergers and Acquisitions department at Societe Generale. Mr. Smith is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Office Depot, Inc. and Quantum Corp. Mr. Smith was formerly Chairman of the Board of Phoenix Technologies Ltd. and formerly on the Boards of Regis Corporation, Surmodics, Inc., Zoran Corporation, Actel Corporation, Kensey Nash Corp., S1 Corp., Jotter Technologies, Inc. and The Fresh Juice Company, Inc. and also served on the Management Committee for Register.com. Mr. Smith graduated from The Wharton School of Business at The University of Pennsylvania, where he received a B.S. in Economics.
