Edward P. Garden
Chief Investment Officer & Founding Partner, Trian Fund Management, LP
Mr. Garden, along with Nelson Peltz and Peter May, founded Trian in November 2005. Trian invests in under-performing and undervalued public companies and looks to work constructively with the management and the Board of Directors to create lasting shareholder value. As an activist investing firm, Trian has facilitated change at such companies as Heinz, Cadbury, Kraft, Ingersoll Rand, Wendy's, InterContinental Hotels, DuPont, Mondelez, PepsiCo, Lazard, State Street and Family Dollar.
As Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Garden oversees all aspects of Trian's portfolio management, idea generation, analyses and due diligence activities. Mr. Garden also typically leads, along with Messrs. Peltz and May, Trian's engagement with the management teams and boards of directors at the companies in which it invests. Mr. Garden currently serves on the boards of The Wendy's Company and Family Dollar Stores, Inc.
Previously, Mr. Garden served as Vice Chairman and a director of Triarc Companies, Inc., where he was also head of corporate development. Prior to joining Triarc, Mr. Garden was a managing director of Credit Suisse First Boston, where he had served as a senior investment banker and BT Alex Brown, where he was co-head of Equity Capital Markets.
Mr. Garden holds a B.A. in Economics from Harvard College.
