Scott Svenson
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer: Freestone Capital Management
Scott Svenson is the Chairman & Chief Executive of Freestone Capital which manages $2.5 billion. Scott is also the Managing Partner of the Sienna Group which in 2008 acquired a controlling interest in Freestone. The Sienna Group was created following his sale of the Seattle Coffee Company to Starbucks.
Prior to the formation of Sienna, Scott and his wife Ally co-founded Seattle Coffee Company, the first gourmet coffee retailer and wholesaler in the United Kingdom. As CEO, Scott built the business to 75 retail locations in under three years (10 of which were operated under licence in South Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia), and managed the sale of the company to Starbucks in May 1998. Following the sale, Scott accepted the role of President – Starbucks UK and was subsequently promoted to President – Starbucks Europe
Scott’s other experience includes working at Drexel, Burnham Lambert in both New York and London and at Apax Partners & Co (the largest independent venture capitalist in Europe). Scott also acted as Deputy CEO of CrestaCare plc, a public company and the third largest long-term healthcare provider in the UK. During his three years at CrestaCare, Scott played an instrumental role in restructuring and turning around the company.
Scott is a Seattle native and a graduate with honours from Harvard University.
