Paul E. Singer is the founder and president of Elliott Management Corporation, a New York–based trading firm launched in 1977. As of year-end, total assets under management were approximately $19 billion. The compound annual rate of return for Elliott’s flagship fund from inception through the fourth quarter of 2011 has been 14.0% net to investors, compared with 10.6% for the S&P 500 (with dividends reinvested) in the same period with roughly one-third the volatility. Elliott also has affiliated offices in London, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
The Wall Street Journal has recognized Elliott's early forecasting of the systemic economic crisis of 2008. The New York Times has written that “of all the hedge fund managers on Wall Street, [Elliott] is one of the most revered.”
Mr. Singer is on the board of fellows of Harvard Medical School. He is also chairman of the Manhattan Institute and on the board of directors of Commentary Magazine.
