Chief Executive Officer, Alternative & Broker Dealer Services, BNY Mellon
Brian is CEO of Alternative and Broker-Dealer Services (ABDS) and a member of BNY Mellon’s Operating Committee. Through a suite of related businesses, ABDS delivers a range of services including: hedge fund, fund of hedge fund and private equity administration and alternative prime custody; securities clearance; collateral management and derivatives servicing. In alternative investment services, BNY Mellon is ranked third in the alternative investment industry with $525 billion in assets under administration and custody. In broker-dealer services, BNY Mellon is a leader and innovator, providing U.S. government clearing services for 17 of the 21 primary dealers and servicing over $1.8 trillion daily in tri-party balances. Since 2009, Brian has been CEO of Alternative Investment Services, a business that he helped build from its inception in 2004. Prior to this role, Brian was head of Global Client Management in North America with responsibility for Banks, Broker-Dealers, Alternative Investment Managers, Real Estate Firms, Insurance Companies, Corporations, Endowments & Foundations and U.S. Asset Managers. Brian joined the company in 1992 from ANZ Capital Markets in New York where he was responsible for institutional relationships with financial companies.
Brian is a member of The Board of Directors and Credit Committee of Pershing LLC and BNY Mellon's Sovereign Wealth Advisory Group. In 2003, he was co-opted onto The Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Working Committee on The Future of The U.S. Government Securities Markets. Brian is a member of the Board of Directors of BNY Mellon Clearing International Limited. He is also a member of The Advisory Board of The UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business in Dublin, Ireland and The Frank G. Zarb School of Business, New York.
Brian is a graduate of The Chartered Association of Certified Accountants in the UK and Ireland and received his MBA in International Banking and Finance from Zarb School of Business, New York in 1995.
