Steven C. Mathews

Mr. Mathews left Tudor Investment Corporation in September 2009 to start Flintlock Capital Asset Management. While at Tudor from 1997-2009, he was the Head of Commodities Research, and personally advised Paul Tudor Jones on commodities trades on a daily basis. For the last eight years at Tudor, Mr. Mathews was the sole manager of Mathews BVI, a separate legal trading entity within Tudor BVI. As a trader at Tudor, Mr. Mathews had a 3-year average return of 18.09% and a Sharpe Ratio of 1.69 prior to leaving in September 2009.
Prior to Tudor, Mr. Mathews was a quantitative analyst at Bear Stearns, where he provided analysis and portfolio optimization for program trading and equity derivatives. He was also responsible for listed futures contract hedging analysis. Prior to Bear Stearns, Mr. Mathews was an analyst/programmer at Citicorp Global Derivatives. While there, he implemented the Black-Karasinski Trinomial Tree Prepayment option pricing method, as well as designed and coded the Treasury Cubic Spline Fitting workbench.
Mr. Mathews served in the U. S. Army as a tank platoon leader and company commander. He holds a B.S. in operations research from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA in finance and statistics from the Stern School of Management at New York University where he was a Stern Scholar. Additionally, he is a holder of the CFA designation.
