Founded in 1990, Apollo is led by its managing partners Leon Black, Josh Harris and Marc Rowan, and has assets under management of $75.2 billion as of December 31, 2011. Apollo employs approximately 548 people worldwide, of which 201 are investment professionals as of December 31, 2011. The managing partners have worked together for more than 20 years and the firm’s senior partners have worked together for 16 years in aggregate. The firm maintains deep industry expertise in nine core industries and is supported by strategic relationships with various former industry operating executives. The firm has offices globally and affiliates that are currently regulated in the United States by the Securities and Exchange Commission under the Investment Advisers Act, and in the United Kingdom by the Financial Services Authority.
