Douglas Evans
Head of Investments, Abbot Downing
As Abbot Downing's senior managing director of research and portfolio management, Doug is an advocate for new market opportunities and a thought leader on global economics and investment strategy. He directly oversees the development and implementation of Abbot Downing's investment process. As the chair of the investment policy committee, Doug is ultimately responsible for the management of client assets across Abbot Downing offices nationwide. Each year he travels abroad to exchange ideas with investors and business leaders from other countries, gaining a practical understanding of local economics and global markets along the way.
Prior to his current position, Doug was senior vice president and head of investments for Wells Fargo Family Wealth. He joined Wells Fargo in 1990. His previous job involved analyzing real estate properties and private investments.
After graduating with a master's degree in business and economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara, he left the U.S. to travel the world, exploring global economic theory and practice. Doug also holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is a holder of the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a Certified Investment Management Analyst® professional. Doug is also a member of the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of San Francisco and the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA).
Doug and his wife, Heather, are raising four children in Marin County.
