Michael A. Torres

Michael A. Torres is the CEO of Adelante Capital Management, a real estate securities investment manager, where he has worked since 1995. Adelante manages over $2.1 billion in real estate securities for public and private pension funds as well high net worth individuals. In 2004, Mr. Torres led the management buyout of the company (www.adelante.com).
Mr. Torres serves on the Advisory Board for City National Bank Northern California, Orchard Partners, Challenge Success, and Cal Athletics. He is on the Finance Committee for the Stern Grove Festival Association. Previously, Mr. Torres served on the Board of Directors for Equity Lifestyle Communities (NYSE:ELS 1993-2003), Trustee for the UC Berkeley Foundation, and the Bentley School.
Mr. Torres received a B.A. in Architecture and a M.B.A. from University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Torres began his professional career at Prudential Mortgage in 1986. While with Prudential he worked in the Los Angeles field office, through 1988, and transferred to the Newark, NJ corporate office as part of the national accounts team through mid 1990.
Prior to joining Adelante in 1995, Mr. Torres was Director of Real Estate Research and a portfolio manager for Wilshire Asset Management. At Wilshire he created the Wilshire Real Estate Securities Index, which is widely recognized as the industry's performance benchmark.
