David Stemerman

David Stemerman is the Founder and Portfolio Manager of Conatus Capital Management, a global long-short equity manager based in Greenwich, Connecticut with more than $2 billion in assets under management. Conatus Capital seeks to generate outperformance from both long and short investments through individual stock selection based on in-depth, fundamental research into U.S. and global equities.
Prior to launching Conatus Capital on January 2, 2008, Mr. Stemerman was a partner and portfolio manager at Lone Pine Capital LLC with discretion to buy or sell stocks across a broad range of sectors and was jointly responsible for managing risk across the portfolio. Previously, Mr. Stemerman was an analyst at both Ulysses Management, the successor firm to Odyssey Capital, and HPB Associates where he conducted bottom-up analysis on companies for long/short equity investments. He has considerable experience evaluating and investing in companies in both developed and emerging markets.
Mr. Stemerman received an M.B.A. (with distinction) from Harvard Business School and a J.D. (magna cum laude) from Harvard Law School, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University (summa cum laude). He is a Trustee of Greenwich Academy in Connecticut and currently serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee that manages the school’s endowment.
