Haodong “Victor” Li

Dr. Li rejoined EJF Capital in 2010 after spending two years as a portfolio manager for China Southern Fund Management, Ltd, where he managed the Global Dynamic Asset Allocation Fund, the first QDII mutual fund in China. Between 2001 and 2007, he was the primary hedge fund portfolio manager for the EJF Healthcare Fund and FBR Life Sciences Funds. Prior to becoming a hedge fund manager, Dr. Li was a scientist on the founding team at Human Genome Sciences Inc., a publicly-listed company that played a primary role in the mapping of the human genome. Dr. Li personally obtained 48 U.S. biotechnology patents during his career as a bench scientist, including patents for discovering various RNA gene strands. After leaving HGSI in 1996, he co-founded Shenyang Sunshine Pharmaceuticals, one of the largest biotechnology companies in China. Prior to HGSI, he was a post-doctorate fellow at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Li received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from University of Massachusetts in 1991. He graduated from Nankai University in China with a BS degree in Genetics.
